Graduating in the top 30% of his class and on the Dean's list, Carlos earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2010 from Florida International University. Carlos earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and Philosophy, with a minor in Computer Science at Florida International University, where he graduated cum laude. Throughout his undergraduate academic career, Carlos was repeatedly on the Dean's List and was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society.

Carlos was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He is an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association as well as the Florida Bar.
