Dewayne K. Terry, Esq.Attorney
DeWayne K. Terry, Esq. joined Rubenstein Law in 2010. Mr. Terry is an accomplished trial lawyer, practicing law in the Miami area since 1995. He currently leads the firm’s Personal Injury Protection Litigation Division, and also specializes in personal injury cases, including auto and motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death, slip and fall, and negligence claims.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Mr. Terry matriculated to Duke University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies in 1988. After brief professional sports career, Mr. Terry moved to South Florida to pursue his law degree.
Mr. Terry received his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas School of Law in Miami, Florida in 1994. He began his legal career in Miami–Dade County as an Assistant State Attorney under the leadership of the Honorable Katherine Fernandez Rundle. Mr. Terry continued public service as Assistant Staff Counsel for the Florida Bar’s Miami Office. Over the years, while practicing in the civil, criminal and family law divisions, Mr. Terry has earned a distinguished reputation as one of the most skilled trial attorneys in the South Florida legal community. He is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts as a member of both the Florida Bar and the Federal Bar, U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Terry is also a member of the National Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, Dade County Bar Association and the Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Association.
Always active in his community, Mr. Terry is engaged in a variety of civic and service efforts. He is affiliated with Optimist Club of Miami Lakes as a volunteer coach for the Jaguar football program; he is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated; a member of Greater St. Paul A.M.E. church; and a long–time supporter of the Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival.
Mr. Terry is an avid sports enthusiast. He lettered in both football and track while at Duke University, and was Co–Captain of the football team led by Head Coach Steve Spurrier. Subsequently, he enjoyed a brief free agent career with the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Indianapolis Colts.
While not working or serving his community, Mr. Terry enjoys music, singing, traveling and family.
